The Law of Karma

Karma is the Sanskrit word for action. Karma means action. It is equivalent to Newton’s law of ‘every action must have a reaction’. When we think, speak or act we initiate a force that will react accordingly. This returning force maybe modified, changed or suspended, but most people will not be able eradicate it.

The law of Karma is also well explained in Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta by Lard Sri Krishna. This law says that nobody can escape the consequences of his actions.  If you can not escape from the law of karma then why not use it in your favor?

This law says that, “As you sow, so shall you reap” so why not sow the seeds of love and compassion.

The law of karma is also known as Karmayoga.

Karmayoga literally means “discipline of action.”

Nothing is accomplished without action. But there must be a discipline of action.

Every karma will bring its fruit but we should never get attached to the outcome. Detachment with the outcome is the foundation of karmayoga. When you are focused on the fruit or the outcome then you are focused on the future and you miss the present moment. When you miss the present moment you miss the life, because life is happening in the present moment. And if you miss the life then you will miss the god because life is god. There is no god apart from the life. So karmayoga unites you with the life, with the god.

You must consider all the consequences before entering into any action. This is called awareness. In Hindi it is called Hosh. One should perform every action with awareness then that action itself become meditation and it will liberate you. That state of liberation is called moksha or nirvana.

This law sates that whenever there is something wrong in your life, there is something wrong in you. The world around you is just a mirror. Outer circumstances just mirror your inner states. So always remember that you are responsible for whatever happening to you this moment. This law teach you to never complain about your situations. This law teach you to take responsibility in your hand. Nobody is responsible for your suffering or happiness except you.
Do you know that you can not focus on two things at the same time. When you are focused on spiritual values it is impossible to indulge in lower values like greed and lust. So always be watchful in which direction you are going. Then there will be discipline in your action.
Your intention behind every karma or action is very important. Universe is recording your intention and the outcome will be decided in the moment of intention. Suffering will be the result of bad intention. Bad karma is born from bad intention. Having a bad intention itself is a bad karma. You can not escape from this law because this law is operating on every level of life.
In every action you must remain conscious. Conscious karma will help you on your spiritual journey. If your karmas are soaked with love and compassion then it will create prosperity and abundance in your life.
